CamOverlay is a macOS menu bar utility developed by Fırat Yalavuz. It shows your camera in a small floating window that stays on top of other apps, with adjustable shapes, borders, filters, opacity and size. This policy explains how CamOverlay handles information.
CamOverlay does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. The app:
CamOverlay requests camera permission because displaying your camera is the entire purpose of the app. The video is rendered live on screen only. It is never written to disk, never sent anywhere, and disappears the moment the app is closed. You can revoke camera access at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
Your preferences — shape, border colour and thickness, filter, opacity, size, mirror mode,
selected camera and window position — are stored locally on your Mac using the system's standard
local storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device and is removed when
you delete the app.
CamOverlay does not integrate with any third-party services, backends, authentication providers, payment processors, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.
CamOverlay does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
